Biography
Originally hailing from the small town of Didsbury, Alberta before I moved to Lethbridge, I am often recognized for my talents on the basketball court, but my true passion lies in film and video production. Growing up on movies such as The Day After Tomorrow, Van Helsing, and Star Wars Episode III, it is safe to say that my appreciation and taste has certainly improved.

It wasn’t until my first video production class in Grade 9 that I realized the endless possibilities that accompany video production, and my love truly began to blossom. Ever since then, I have been trying to learn as much as I possibly can.

In my limited spare time, I love watching movies with my favorites ranging widely in genre from Jaws to Mad Max: Fury Road to The World’s End. I also enjoy playing Super Smash Bros on my Nintendo 64 and grabbing the odd drink with friends. I have also been lucky enough to travel to locations such as Japan, Australia, and much of Europe, which has widened my perspective on the world.

I am currently a New Media student focusing on Cinema at the University of Lethbridge. Upon graduating I hope to further my education and achieve a Master’s degree in screenwriting.

Artist Statement

It is a deeply embedded belief of mine that once you find what you truly love to do, then there is simply no excuse to not dive head first into this passion. This is how I feel about film.

I find it fascinating to create unique worlds and characters while exploring themes that resonate with audiences across the world. Each storyteller has their own perspective on how they view the world, and I am constantly exploring and expanding mine.

Although my work spans many different genres, one of my favorites is dark comedy. I love exploring topics that many may consider off limits and showcasing their potential for humor. If we can observe these ideas and themes under a different light, then we can completely redefine them.

What draws me to working with the camera is its ability to manipulate the eye of the viewer. Each frame carries significant storytelling power, and is able to be crafted in infinite ways. By manipulating the color, the focus, the depth, the staging, the…you get the point, we are able to create endless meanings for the audience to absorb.

Being a New Media student, I have been taught in a variety of areas including website development, coding, and graphic design. This has not just merely widened the skills that I can put on a resume, but it has made me a dynamic and well-rounded artist for the current digital age. In fact, I often find some of these abilities transferring over and improving my skillset within my passion.

I truly believe that film is one of most beautiful storytelling mediums there is, and I look forward to working within it for the rest of my life.
