Separated by circumstances but connected through their roots, Solus tells the the story of three individuals as they struggle to survive and make sense of their now post-apocalyptic world.
Created by Arjan Gill, Solus is a short film currently in pre-production with plans to shoot this coming May of 2018. It was one of ten recipients of the Telus STORYHIVE grant, which funds filmmakers across Alberta and British Columbia.
The film is split into two unique pieces with the first of being an immersive 360 video. This interactive short places the viewer in the city during the initial attack, where they will follow Conroy as he struggles to survive. The second is a linear short, focusing on Gin as he tries to make sense of the past and the horrific new world he faces.
I was hired to write the screenplay for the linear short, as well as to help out with the 360 piece. I discussed with Arjan the desired themes he was hoping to convey with this film, and I received a very brief outline before I got to work on writing. Over the course of a few weeks, I expanded and crafted a story that I hope will resonate with the audiences who watch this film.
